Preparing for alignment conversations

Alignment conversations provide an opportunity to review role-based skills. The Potential platform offers a data-led view to support discussions, build mutual understanding, and achieve alignment.

Team Members

Showcase your skills

Before your alignment conversation, check Potential to review which skills and levels you have chosen.

Then, think about how you have demonstrated the skills at the levels you selected.

Examples might include:

  • Tasks you perform in your day-to-day role.
  • Projects you have worked on.
  • Training courses you've completed.
  • Past certifications.

Managers

Validate your thinking

Before alignment conversations with your team, reviewing which skills and levels are aligned and which are not.

Then, think about why you have selected each level and approach alignment conversations with an open mind.

  • Acknowledge similarities and difference in how you and your team member assessed skill levels.
  • Deep dive into perception gaps.
  • Be curious about opportunities for team members to demonstrate their skills.
